Rodney House offers residential care 24 hours a day and is registered with the Commission For Social Care Inspection to accommodate 30 residents with dementia.
Rodney House is a secure house, which means that all exits are secured so that residents can only leave the house or garden if accompanied by a member of staff competent to keep them safe, and in the full knowledge of the senior carer on duty. Access to the building is only possible through a security system operated by staff.
An open visiting policy is provided at Rodney House, enabling the local community to be drawn into the life of the home, and the residents to be drawn into the life of the community.
External security lighting is installed on the outside of the home and car park to assist in security at night.
Residents may bring small electrical appliances with them, as long as they are safe to use and checked by a qualified electrician for safety. All portable electrical equipment in the Home is subject to an annual certification test to safeguard the residents.
A full laundry service is provided on site and dry cleaning can be arranged at the service user’s expense.
A lockable cabinet is available in every room for residents’ personal possessions and an office safe for any valuable items or pocket money. A full record of pocket money and valuables is maintained for auditing purposes.
Residents may consume alcohol in the Home, but for safety reasons are asked that it be stored in the kitchen area.
It is our intention to offer residents a good standard of living, in comfortable, homely conditions. We make every effort to maintain the house in good order, comfortably furnished and attractively decorated. It is the policy of the directors and manager to make continuous improvements in all areas such as the premises, equipment, staff selection and training, catering etc.
Other facilities the Home offers are three spacious lounges, a well-presented dining room, and a hair salon.
The Home benefits from regular visits by chiropodists and opticians, although arrangements can be made for residents to visit their usual optician if appropriate.
The Home has weekly visits from a hairdresser and residents may visit by appointment. Should a resident’s regular hairdresser be available, they may wish to visit and do the resident’s hair in the privacy of their own room at a time to suit them.
A range of activities are provided during the day including music and movement, musical entertainment, quizzes, games that encourage light physical movement, reflexology, aromatherapy and a visiting pat dog.
